What does WishPoint do for my store?

A customer chooses a product, earns progress from paid orders, and receives a product-focused Shopify discount code when they redeem. Merchants control the earn rate, reward value, eligible products, branding, and customer notifications.

Is there a Free plan, and do I need a credit card?

Yes. Free is $0 for up to 30 active goal participants and does not require approval of a paid subscription. Pro is $19 monthly or $190 yearly with a 14-day trial; Shopify shows the billing terms before you approve any charge.

How long does setup take?

Most of the work is completed through a guided, no-code setup: choose your points rates and branding, enable the WishPoint app embed and product-page block in Shopify's theme editor, then preview the experience before launch. Timing varies by theme and how much you customise.

Does WishPoint work with my theme?

WishPoint uses Shopify Theme App Extensions and does not edit your theme files. It is designed for Online Store 2.0 themes. If a custom theme behaves differently, contact support and we can help verify the setup.

What store and customer data does WishPoint access?

Accepted Answer

WishPoint uses Shopify-approved access to the store, customer, order, product, and discount data needed to calculate points, show goals, and create rewards. It never sees or stores your Shopify admin password. See the Privacy Policy for the complete data and service-provider details.

How many points does a purchase earn?

Accepted Answer

You set both rates in WishPoint's settings: Earn rate (points per $1 spent) and Redeem rate (points = $1 reward value). For example, an Earn rate of 5 and a Redeem rate of 50 gives a 10% effective reward. By default WishPoint uses the order subtotal and excludes taxes; you can choose whether shipping costs count toward points. Customers see clear progress estimates on product pages, in the cart, and at checkout.

Can I exclude shipping costs from points?

Yes. In your WishPoint settings you can choose whether shipping costs count toward points earned. When excluded, only the product subtotal is used to calculate points — useful if you offer free shipping promotions and don't want them to inflate point totals.

Which orders earn points?

Accepted Answer

WishPoint awards points only for paid Shopify orders with an identified customer. Each order can award points only once, even if Shopify retries a webhook. Refunds and cancellations automatically deduct the matching points so customers cannot keep progress from returned purchases.

Can I run double-points events or seasonal promotions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bonus campaigns let you set a custom date range and point multiplier. Free retains one campaign; Pro retains unlimited campaigns. Pausing a campaign does not free the Free allowance.

How does redeeming a reward work?

Accepted Answer

When a customer reaches their goal, WishPoint creates a Shopify discount code for that customer to apply at checkout. The discount is scoped to the selected reward product or variant where Shopify supports it, and it expires after 30 days if unused. You can also enable partial redemption — customers cash out whatever progress they've built up, even before hitting 100%, and receive a proportional discount.

Do points carry over when a customer sets a new goal?

That's up to you. With carry-over enabled, a customer's existing point balance is credited toward their new goal the moment they choose it. With carry-over disabled, the new goal's progress bar starts at zero — the points themselves aren't lost, they just don't count toward the new target until new purchases are made.

Are reward codes also free-shipping codes?

No. WishPoint reward codes currently discount the selected reward item only. Free shipping is intentionally not bundled into the same discount code because a broad shipping discount could apply to unrelated carts.

What happens if a reward code expires unused?

Accepted Answer

Reward codes expire after 30 days. If a code expires before WishPoint verifies that it was used, the reserved points are released back to the customer so they can choose another goal or redeem again.

Free applies a fixed 90-day inactivity expiry. Pro lets you configure or disable points expiry. Pro also includes expiry-warning email paths when email delivery is enabled.

What happens to points when a customer returns an item?

Accepted Answer

Points are adjusted automatically. For a full cancellation, all points earned from that order are deducted. For a partial refund, points are deducted proportionally — for example, if a customer earned 80 points on a $100 order and returns $25 of items, 20 points are deducted. Each refund is processed independently, so a customer who makes two separate partial returns on the same order is adjusted correctly for each one.

What emails are sent to my customers?

Both plans can send three transactional types when notifications are enabled: Points Earned, Goal Reached, and Redemption Confirmation. Pro adds five advanced paths: points-expiry warnings, reward-expiry warnings, near-goal nudges, inactivity messages, and monthly summaries.

What address do emails come from?

WishPoint uses Resend for reliable transactional email delivery. Emails are sent from a WishPoint-managed domain on your behalf. The sender name displayed to your customers includes your shop name so recipients know the email is from your store.

Does WishPoint work with my Shopify theme?

WishPoint uses Shopify's native Theme App Extensions, so it does not edit your theme files. It is designed for Online Store 2.0 themes, including Shopify's standard themes. Custom themes can vary; contact support if the app block or embed does not appear as expected.

Will it slow down my store's Lighthouse score?

WishPoint's storefront code loads asynchronously and is designed to minimise its effect on page rendering. Actual Lighthouse results depend on your theme, other apps, device, and network, so we recommend comparing a storefront test before and after enabling the widget.

What happens if I disable the widget?

Accepted Answer

Disabling the storefront widget hides the customer-facing WishPoint experience on your theme. It does not erase existing points, wishlists, or order history. Customers will not be able to pick or redeem goals from the widget again until you re-enable it.

WishPoint ships with 7 visual styles — Minimal, Immersive, Glass, Gradient, Playful, Neon, and Elegant — plus light, dark, and auto colour schemes. There are two layout types: a floating circle button (sits in the corner) and a sticky progress bar (anchored to the top or bottom of the page). All styles support custom brand colours.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not at all. WishPoint is entirely no-code. The onboarding wizard walks you through every setting, and the widget blocks are added via the visual Shopify theme editor.

What happens to my customers' data if I uninstall?

Upon uninstall, Shopify sends WishPoint an uninstall webhook and customer privacy webhooks remain available for deletion/export requests. Customer data associated with your shop is handled according to Shopify's privacy requirements and WishPoint's retention policy. You can request a data export or deletion by emailing support.
